Djembefola
Ladji Kante
Raised in a family of successful musicians (playing kora, balafon, djembe and guitar) with both parents, Issouf Kante & Mananfin Sylla, as professional, traditional "griots" (vocalists), Ladji began playing djembe & doumdoum (West African hand drums) at the age of 9. Following his parents from one traditional ceremony to another to carefully observe the masters of his craft, Ladji quickly became a self-taught "djembefola" (professional djembe player). With a remarkable track record of working with some of the top names in world music, this young master's debut album marks a bold introduction to the international music scene.
