MusicAid

Eppelsauce Music has been supporting refugee musicians through the production of albums and hosting of concerts since the company was first founded in 2006. Eppelsauce Music will expand this work, in response to the recent wave of xenophobia attacks across South Africa which have displaced thousands of refugees into temporary shelters and camps.

Eppelsauce Music will host concerts in refugee camps to provide psycho-social relief to refugees and in South African communities to promote Pan-African understanding; as well as engage refugee and South African youth in music and music video production as a tool for reconciliation and re-integration.

Promoting refugee rights and transforming xenophobia

Festival TV

Eppelsauce Music recognizes the multi-faceted barriers refugee artists face to surviving and thriving in the local and international music industry.

Where lack of passports, visas and infrastructure prevent these incredible talents and expressions from touring and gaining exposure, Eppelsauce Music seeks to address the situation with an innovative approach: online video podcasts of refugee artists in live concerts, impromptu jams, acoustic intimate sessions and interviews.

Rural artist development

Eppelsauce Music is building an official cultural bridge with rural QwaQwa (Free State Province - once one of the homelands in South Africa) where Recording Engineer and Music Producer, Mpho Mofokeng, is currently establishing the area's first-ever professional music recording studio. QwaQwa Radio's DJ Sexy D (Saki Chele) hosts radio programs and shows, performs, and trains DJ's - with a particular focus on empowering those with physical disabilities.

DJ Sexy D and Mpho are Eppelsauce Music's main staff members on the ground in QwaQwa, spear-heading our unique Rural Artist Development program which consists of mentorship in music engineering, live concert events, music video production, music industry business development and marketing; exchanges, tours and promotions of one another's cultural products and artists; spreading Pan-African/anti-xenophobia awareness into rural areas, and promoting reconciliation and nation-building through inter-cultural, inter-lingual (Sotho-Xhosa) collaborations.

Fostering poverty alleviation

International Performance, Distribution & Exchange

Eppelsauce Music is building an official cultural bridge with rural and urban Mali (one of the richest and oldest homes for African and World music on the planet), with plans for collaboration in production and performance between South African and Malian artists.

Eppelsauce Music is extending its presence in North America to build a cultural bridge for North-South collaboration and exchange. Our office in Vancouver, Canada supports artists' tours, album distribution, film/tv/ads licensing and media relations.
